Octopus Books opens new, second location!

Great news for book lovers and fans of independent bookstores alike – Octopus Books, your progressive bookstore since 1969, is opening a new, second location!

Come visit us at 251 Bank Street, 2nd floor, in the recently opened Under One Roof centre, Ottawa’s new progressive social innovation hub. We’re there Monday-Friday, 11-6.

Yes, Octopus Books is expanding and growing despite all the challenges facing independent bookstores. The reality is, independents have to change, and Octopus has always been about change, for the better – social, cultural and political.

Our plan is to take the independent bookstore into the 21st century by blending a new location with a social innovation centre. Community is the future, and Octopus is partnering with community to evolve what an independent bookstore can be in this city.

Our first event at the new space is on Wednesday, April 25, celebrating the launch of a new book by University of Manitoba Professor Deborah Stienstra.About Canada: Disability Rights explores the landscape of disability rights in Canada, ultimately advocating social transformation as the best way to secure them. The event starts at 7:00 pm. We invite our community to change and grow with us! Got a great idea for a speakers’ series?
